Logan: Last Ride of Weapon X

The Wolverine 3 movie titled Logan has officially dropped its first trailer and I gotta say it looks like it may be the best Wolverine movie out of the trilogy. This will also mark the last time Hugh Jackman outs on the adamantium claws as Weapon X. It also marks Sir Patrick Stewart's last time as Charles Xavier. Logan takes place in the year 2024, a year after X-Men Days of Future Past. All the mutants have slowly but surely disappeared over the years. The X-Men have all passed it seems and the only two left are Wolverine and Charles Xavier. They must help a young girl survive and stay away from a company called Essex.
Click here for the trailer if you haven't seen it:

Charles asked Logan what he had done. All the mutants have either been killed, disappeared, mutant births took a great decline, or the timeline after Wolverine fixed it in DOFP is just really jacked up. As the trailer goes on, Logan is seen looking at scars on his body that aren't completely healed over. In the film his heal factor is greatly diminished and can't heal as smoothly and rapidly as he could when he was younger. Xavier seems to be very ill with either a brain disease, a very strong virus, or his old age has finally caught up with him. He tells Wolverine of a girl that will need his help and is much like him. The girl he is referring to is Lauren Kinney. Better known as X-23/Wolverine's clone played by Dafne Keen. She possesses all of Wolverine's powers, but her claws are pronged and has one blade coming out of each foot. It is also confirmed that the little girl is X-23. A doctor that works for Essex Corps tried to restart the Weapon X program and she was the end result of a successful clone. Or if you want to be technical, the daughter of Logan.
The main villains it seems like in the movie are the Reavers. In the comics, they were a group of mutants that were cybernetically enhanced and took on the X-Men numerous times. One of the main Reavers that are definitely in the film is Donald Pierce who is played by Boyd Holbrook. Him and the Reavers most likely find Logan, X-23, and Xavier from Caliban. A mutant with the power to track any mutant on Earth played by Stephen Merchant. It seems like Pierce and Logan have a past due to released footage shown of an arm cut off with a shotgun in the hand. Lady Deathstrike was one of the main Reavers in the 90s animated series, but i highly doubt that she will be returning for Logan. Mr. Sinister was also rumored to appear in the film, but it seems like that will be less likely.
A seen from the trailer that i really wanted to address shows Wolverine fighting off somebody with what looks like adamantium claws. Now we know X-23 is in the film, but i highly doubt that she went rogue during the film and turned on Wolverine. Plus her claws are pronged. The claws were pronged like X-23's at the top, but if you take a close look there's a third claw that looks like it's coming from the wrist. I know this may be a longshot and I'm going for it. The person who Wolverine is most likely fighting off is a mutant by the name of Daken. Daken is the son of Logan/Wolverine and one of the first bisexual comic book characters. He was born in Japan in 1946 to Logan and his deceased mother Itsu. In the comics, The Winter Soldier killed Itsu and Daken was cut from his mother's womb and survived due to his healing factor. Named Akhiro, later was raised and adopted by a wealthy Japanese family until one day he found out who he truly was. He would later show up as a member of the Dark Avengers created by Norman Osbourne as his Wolverine. Maybe in Logan, he was neglected by his father and is seeking revenge. Like I said, that theory of mine is a complete longshot.
This film looks like its gonna be a very good movie. Probably the best superhero movie that Fox has put out as far as Marvel Comics goes. Deadpool still has the top spot as their best movie, but with the R Rating that Logan has gotten there might be a little competition. In my opinion not counting Deadpool, the best X-Men movie is still DOFP. Logan looks like a different take on the Old Man Logan story minus the Disney Marvel characters. I want Sabertooth to show up in this film. Just to show some type of nod to the previous Wolverine movies.

Departure of Terror

The end of an era of terror at Disneyland's California Adventure is approaching. January 2, 2017 will be the last time you can ride the Tower of Terror, a long time park favorite after it closes down permanently. Replacing it will be the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT. The basis for the ride is that Star Lord, Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon have been captured by The Collector and are trying to escape his vast collection. While many people don't want this ride to replace a known favorite, some people are looking forward to Disney finally making a Marvel attraction.
There are multiple outlets that Disney has and the one major outlet is Marvel Entertainment/Marvel Cinematic Universe which the Guardians of the Galaxy are apart of. Star Wars took over all of Tomorrowland when The Force Awakens came out and have their very own Star Wars Land on the way, Pixar has attractions in both parks, classic Disney movies are everywhere, and Marvel has two guys dressed up as Spider-Man and Captain America. I do give it to Disney for timing it properly with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. Where a lot of Disneyland and California Adventure fanatics see this as a waste of space, many see it as a perfect opportunity for Disneyland to capitalize and attract more fans of Marvel. People don't want to see the Tower of Terror go. If Disney had made a Twilight Zone reboot in the last 10-15 years, I would say keep it!

A lot of people are upset at the fact the Hollywood Tower of Terror is closing down. I understand why people are upset. It is one of the most well-known attractions at California Adventure, it's fun and it's thrilling! Maybe this will be the first step in Disneyland creating a Marvel-themed area. I can't wait to experience Mission BREAKOUT and to go see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 which drops in Summer 2017.

Lights, Camera, Live-Action!

The big buzz surrounding Disney lately has been the massive amount of live-action reboots that got announced. We all love Disney movies, but do they all need to be made? Three more classic Disney movies have gotten the green light. Aladdin, Mulan, and The Lion King. After the success of The Jungle Book this year, it was likely to happen. Plenty of classics have been rebooted into live-action films. 101 Dalmatians, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Huntsman, Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Pete's Dragon. In 2017, Beauty and the Beast will join the ever expanding list as well.

Prince Ali

While Aladdin has been a long time Disney favorite, it's still surprising to see that Disney is going through with a live-action Aladdin movie. With the recent loss of Robin Williams. Many fans think that replacing the voice of the Genie would be disrespectful to the memory of Robin Williams. Perhaps if they were to use the sound bytes from the cartoon movie with the permission of the Robin Williams Estate, then fans might feel less sensitive. The movie is going to make money either way because its Disney, but long time Aladdin fans will appreciate the respect they show to Williams' memory. Fans would also want culturally accurate actors for the film. Guy Ritchie will be directing the film.

Mysterious As The Darkside of the Moon

Another movie that has gotten the green light for a reboot is Mulan. When this announcement was made, fans started a hashtag in hopes that Disney would pay attention. #MakeMulanRight started when reports of the movie had Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett Johansson attached to the film as the role of Mulan. Disney has said that they are actively looking for an Asian director to helm the movie. Recent reports by Comicbook.com have said that Ang Lee who directed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon passed on the film. A vast majority of the cast will be Asian. At this time no actress has been announced, however some great options might include: Jamie Chung; who played Mulan on the ABC show Once Upon A Time, Lana Condor; who played Jubilee on X-Men Apocalypse, Ming-Na Wen, or Tao Okamoto. Disney has confirmed that they are not using a white actress as the lead for Mulan. The movie is set to release in 2018.

The Circle of Life

Last but not least, The Lion King will get a live-action reimagining. Helming the film will be Jon Favreau.  Favreau is best known for directing Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and most recently The Jungle Book. Hey Disney, please as little recasting for the voices as possible. Most of the key actors from the original animated movie is alive and well. But if you want to make an interesting twist to the live action movie, have Rafiki holding up two cubs instead of just one. Originally it was just Kiara, but with the addition of The Lion Guard and Simba and Nala's son Kion it would be a good twist. Make Kiara and Kion twins at the end of the movie. A great way to bridge the movies and the tv show. No release date has been set yet.
Of these three movies that were announced, I am most excited about The Lion King movie. Its not that I hate Mulan and Aladdin, its just that The Lion King was the first Disney movie i ever watched and is still my favorite movie of all time to this day. Especially when you are using the director that brought The Jungle Book story to life. Keeping it on the same type of films with the CGI animals and effects. Please let me know what you guys think about the live-action reboots. Do you think it's necessary for them to be made?

Respect The Past, Embrace The Future.

On October 8, 2016, Lionsgate and Saban Brand dropped the Power Rangers reboot trailer.

For a movie that drops on March 24, 2017, I expected the first teaser trailer to drop, like months ago. Back in July 2016, Lionsgate and Saban Brand missed out on a huge opportunity to debut a trailer at San Diego Comic Con after hyping it up throughout the week. There was a full panel and Q&A session with the stars of the movie; Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger/Jason), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger/Zack), RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger/Billy), Becky Gomez (Yellow Ranger/Trini), and Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger/Kimberly). The fans were expecting them to bring some sort of footage, but that didn't happen at all. There were character posters of the new group of teenagers with attitude released leading up to SDCC, Bryan Cranston was announced as Zordon, the movie action figures, power coins, and ranger helmets were all on display at the Lionsgate/Power Rangers section. Instead, Lionsgate showed the trailer for new Blair Witch Project. At the end of September, Lionsgate dropped five new character posters of the Rangers standing/sitting on their Zords. Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live) was also announced and casted as Alpha 5. In the week leading up to New York Comic Con, five more posters showing a more detailed look of the new suits. And then on the morning of October 8, the first teaser trailer for the Power Rangers reboot officially dropped! its Morphin Time!

If you haven't seen the trailer, click here!

The Power Rangers trailer starts off with Jason, the red ranger talking with his dad. Jason has on a knee brace that he most likely got after a major football injury. He is also wearing an ankle monitor. it looks like he was probably on house arrest and his dad isn't too happy with the decisions that he's made. Angel Grove High School isn't what it was like in the 90s show. The school is kind of like a regular high school that's in a normal, regular town. On the show, Angel Grove looked like a clone of Burbank or Santa Monica, CA. In the trailer, it's like a lake town. All the Rangers are attending this Saturday school-like class where they all eventually meet. The five of them seem to be going through their own personal struggles and are victims of bullying to some extent except for Zack and Jason. Trini isn't super popular amongst people and is getting messages telling her to kill herself, Kimberly is being tormented by other cheerleaders on her squad for being in that class instead of practice, and Billy is the smart guy and the nerd so he is constantly bullied. The five of them travel together to this crystal-like mountain and see five colorful objects or power coins. After they blow up the rock and find whats inside, they take the stones that were inside and go home. When they show up to school, they start to recognize that they have extraordinary abilities. Throughout most of the trailer, they are figuring out what exactly happened to them and then eventually come across a place that could possibly be the command center with Zordon and Alpha or where Rita Repulsa is being held captive. And then the first glimpse of Rita as she is floating over Trini's bed. Attempting to kill her. The trailer ends with Jason morphing into the red ranger.

When I first saw clips of the Power Rangers trailer on Instagram and Twitter, I didn't know what to expect. It was completely different from what I thought it was going to be. The tone was completely different from the show and the two previous films. Throughout its 23 year run and still counting, the Power Rangers have always had a playful and fun tone with maybe one or two seasons that were a little dark. Fans from the 90s have been waiting to see a darker, harder, and grittier version of the teenagers with attitude. In 2015, a director named Adi Shannkar made a Rated-R reimagining of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Many fans enjoyed it, but a lot more hated it. Personally, I thought it was great. It had a great storyline attached to it and it ran smoothly. The 2017 film looks like its gonna be good! And I really loved the trailer. it was simple, it didn't expose too much, they kept the action scenes hidden for a later date, they kept Zordon and Alpha out of it. Then at NYCC, they Lionsgate and Saban Brand announced that Goldar will be in the movie! What do you thnk Rita meant by that she has killed rangers before? Did Zordon have a team before and Rita killed them all? Is Rita the original green ranger and turned on her team and killed them? Do you think Zordon is the original red ranger and Rita killed his team which caused them always fight?
